Scottsdale is located in central Arizona in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. In addition, Scottsdale's gorgeous weather and beautiful desert scenery draw outdoor enthusiasts into its trail system and expansive parks. It's also home to some of the best golf courses in the United States, with numerous private and public championship games held throughout the year.

Scottsdale is a great place to raise a family. It has one of the best schools, shopping opportunities, and an expansive outdoor to enjoy nature. Old Town Scottsdale has embraced the character of a classic 1800s city with small storefronts along narrow streets. It also features galleries opened on Thursday evenings for the local's enjoyment and various boutiques and restaurants offering the most exquisite shopping and dining experience. 

There are plenty of golf courses in Scottsdale which have earned it as "America's Best Place to Live for Golf" by Robb Report Magazine. The Waste Management Phoenix Open Golf Tournament is the crown jewel of Scottsdale golf courses, with its annual PGA Tour tournament and record-breaking attendance. 

The Barrett-Jackson Automotive Auction is another remarkable event central to Scottsdale's lifestyle. Residents witness the rarest and most-desired car collection in the auction and sold to their highest bidders. Rare items such as posters, gas pumps, and dealership signs are also available for collection. The Barrett-Jackson Automotive Auction also hosts other activities, including an opening night gala, thrill rides, and merchandise sales.
 

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Scottsdale has amazing dining scenes, thanks to the finest restaurants in this place. Culinary Dropout has the most exciting classic meals and foods. During your first visit, ensure that you try out their crowd's favorite 36-hour pork ribs, fried chicken, and pretzel bites. Then, for Great British-inspired foods and beer, head out to the Union Jack Bar. You should also try out The Roaring Fork for its bold American cuisine prepared on a simple wood fire. 

Scottsdale's shopping scene is second to none. Places like Scottsdale Old Town has an array of unique shopping outlets. Sphinx Date Ranch is the landmark of Old Town Scottsdale, selling all kinds of gourmet gifts, including specialty salsas, honey, dried foods, and other unique items to fill your gift basket. Fashion by Robert Black is another iconic shop in Old Town Scottsdale.

You can find well-curated vintage daywear, unique occasion designer pieces, and red-carpet couture. For an exclusive shopping experience, head to Scottsdale Quarter. It has over 80 retail shops, various top-rated restaurants, and a park-like gathering space with enchanting features. Scottsdale Fashion Square is another great place with the most exclusive shopping experience. It has over 225 stores and restaurants, with 40 representing world-renowned brands such as Max Mara, Gucci, and Anthropologie, to name a few. Shoppers can leave their kids at the "Enchanted Kingdom" play area or spend their day at the seven-screen cinema to catch up with the latest movie.
 

Things to Do

Scottsdale offers lots of options when it comes to things you can do. Your Saturdays are well sorted with shopping at Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market. Be ready to find a variety of organic produce, seasonal specialties, and a range of locally produced animal products. You can also find freshly baked artisan pieces of bread, tamales, and jams. Please note that it's usually closed over the summer but reopens in October.

If you're craving the feel of a new trail under your boots, McDowell Sonoran Preserve has enough trails for hiking and biking, plus enough natural attractions to make your expedition as exciting as possible. With over ten trailheads and about 200 miles of shared-use trails, there are enough options for your outdoor experience. 

If you're into nature, you cannot get it wrong at the Butterfly Wonderland. This casual location in the middle of the Maricopa Indian Community is a habitat for all sorts of butterflies harbored in a glorious,
beautiful glass atrium. You can even have some land on your head or arm as you marvel at their interactive exhibits or snap photos of them as they fly around.
